The PSA Group and STAFIM, the company’s long-term partner in Tunisia, have signed a letter of intent to assemble and market a Peugeot bakkie in that country.

The planned assembly plant will start operations in mid-2018, producing 1 200 units annually to meet anticipated demand. According to Jean-Christophe Quémard, PSA’s Executive Vice-President for the Middle East & Africa, the agreement demonstrates the Group’s intention to build its presence in the pick-up segment. He said the vehicle would play a key role in the growth of the Tunisian automotive industry.
